May Favorites

It’s May and Spring is in full bloom here in East Tennessee. It is one of my favorite times of year. My roses are blooming and the hydrangea and peonies will be soon. The following are a few of my favorites at the moment.

I’m so pleased to welcome back this printed colorful galzed fabric! The word chintz, brings back fond memories of my mother’s beautiful floral curtains that adorned our family room windows. Chintz has been out of favor for the past several years, but lately it’s been popping up in the freshest of interiors. What’s next from the eighties - balloon shades in full force? I hope so…

Check out this month’s issue of Southern Living. You will see how Hannah Seabrook uses chintz in her Louisville, KY home. I love how fresh Lee Jofa’s Althea is in the space when combined with the tabacco colored sofa, rattan and other natural elements in the room. It’s a perfect example of how to use chintz without it feeling too girly (of course I’m good with girly) or too old fashioned.

Turkish Towels

The above pictured towels (Capri Fouta Beach Towel) from Serena & Lily are soft, absorbent and stylish. Perfect for a day at the pool or the beach!

Target’s Opalhouse XL Stripe Beach Towel offers the same look at a fraction of the price.

Luxury Pet Gates

Dog gates by Hill & Co Woodworks are custom made and can fit any opening. The craftsmen at Hill & Co. can even add a small opening at the bottom of the gate for cats. These gates have multiple installation options, including standard with hinges and a latch / bolt combination.

The Chippendale influenced woodwork is elegant and can be used as an architectural focal point that works well in modern and traditional homes. I think these are fabulous and can’t wait to incorporate one in a future project.

Annie Sloan Gilding Wax

I am obsessed with this amazing product! Annie Sloan gilding waxes are easy to apply and not messy. They can breath new life into may things around your home. Pictured below are some curtain rods and finials that were originally black. When my client bought her home these were left behind. The black hardware was too harsh for her decor. Instead of purchasing new hardware, we were able to give these a little makeover and couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.
